2026 Nature Calendar Phenology Wheel

Phenology is the study of nature’s timing. When does the crabapple outside your window bloom? When do the cedar waxwings return for spring? When did you notice the first ladybugs of the season? How heavy was the heat of last summer? How sharp was the cold of winter?

A phenology wheel is a way of walking beside the earth’s living calendar day by day, making note of weather, temperature, tides, the sun, the moon, and anything else you’d like to remember. It’s a quick way to note the world around you. The simple circle lets you see each month at a glance.

The pages in this wheel are designed to fit an 8.5 x 8.5 sketchbook, but you can print them smaller using the controls on your printer. I personally use U.S. Art Supply 8.5” x 8.5” watercolor books for my nature journals, but these wheels can be tucked into any suitable size sketchbook.
