What art materials will you need?
I know, buying art materials can be expensive.
Below you’ll find a pdf with a long list of paints, paper, and brushes. But seriously, you could get by in my beginning class with just a few things.
Paper is the most important. Try to buy the best you can afford. Cheap tablets like you buy at hobby stores will hold you back. That said, you can learn to paint on those. Just realize your results won’t be the same as mine.
Brushes are important, but you can get by with a soft wash brush (at least a #8 or #10) that holds a lot of water, and a couple rounds (between #6 and #8).
Synthetics are fine.
Paint can really add up. I paint with a full palette, but honestly, you can get by in this beginning class with just four colors, as long as they’re good quality. Then you can add more colors when you can.
The four are: Ultramarine blue, cadmium red, cadmium yellow, and either ivory black or sepia.
